Rock Boat?  What's a Rock Boat?  Wouldn't a Rock Boat sink?

If you are one of the lucky ones who was on TRB, then you don't need to waste your time reading this page.

If you're one of my friends or a random visitor to this site, here is a brief description of what The Rock Boat is.  In a word, it is "awesome".  It's several days of up-close performances by very talented musical artists, and it was all started by the band Sister Hazel.  I don't know the history enough to be positive, but I think it was specifically Ken Block (of Sister Hazel) who came up with the "rock boat" concept, and it's been happening for the past 6 years....and I hope it goes on for many years to come because we want to go every chance we can.  It started out as about 200 people and and some bands on a cruise its first year, but has been chartering ships and selling them out well before departure ever since.

This is not your usual cruise.  The ship is chartered, so its only open to those signing up through therockboat.com.  There are no lame Vegas-style shows.  It isn't stuffy / formal.  It's also not by any means like a typical rock concert with a lot of screaming kids that are there more for rowdy mosh pits than music.  That's what it isn't.

It is dozens of musical artists performing in various locations around the ship from shortly after noon until 1am or much later in some cases.  It is a chance to see every artist on board performing up close and not in overcrowded conditions.  It's even a chance to "bump into" them and chat with them anywhere on the ship.  In other words, it is a chance for music lovers to listen to the music of some great bands and individual artists in a comfortable, relatively intimate environment.  Some of the venues are dedicated to quieter, "acoustic" settings, others are for more typical concert performances.

I would recommend TRB to any music lover.
